The artists of Original T-Bag Designs create their stunning work by painting on recycled tea bags. The tea bags are dried in the sun, then emptied of leaves and ironed before being transformed into unique works of art.
The income the 20 artists earn is a vital part of family income. Nomsa was able to buy a home with the money she earned from painting recycled tea bags. She says, “the most wonderful thing in the world is hearing the rain on the roof and knowing my children are warm and dry.”
This project, located near Cape Town, South Africa, helps to support 125 people. Fair Trade approved. When life gives you tea bags...make art!
